Sample Packing List

Remember that a pilgrim that travels light is a happy pilgrim! This list is not intended to be exhaustive, but hopefully gives you a starting point for your packing. A few tips as you adapt it for your own needs:

  • This is based on the pilgrimage itself, and you should plan accordingly if you will be spending additional time in Europe before or after the pilgrimage
  • Take advantage of laundry options in Salisbury and plan to re-wear clothes.
  • Choose clothes that can be easily mixed-and-matched
  • Limit shoes to two pairs (one comfortable walking pair and one nicer pair for Sunday worship)
  • Use packing cubes and compression bags, but be mindful of weight limits of checked bags
  • Plan to wear heavier items like jeans and jackets on the plane to save weight in your bags
  • If you won’t wear something more than twice, don’t bring it!
  • Pack your bag in enough time to carry it around some – you’d rather find out it’s too heavy at home than as you’re getting to the airport
  • Note that this list assumes you will do laundry at least one day during the pilgrimage, so adjust accordingly if you are packing for the full trip
